As much as we appreciate the extra help, we don't like the idea of our customers making too much of a fuss on our behalf. However, there are a number of things you should do to prepare for the arrival of a carpet installation service, which will save both you and your work crew a lot of time and headaches. Saving time means saving labor, and saving labor means saving money!
1. Take Extra Steps to Control the Dust
Even the most meticulous work crews are going to generate a respectable level of dust through the course of the job. They will take steps to mitigate the spread of dust from the work zone, but can only do so much on their own, before they have to worry about intruding on the personal space of their clients.
If you are concerned about the spread of dust from the work site, there is an easy step you can take to lend a hand. Simply cover the doors of any rooms adjacent to the hallway that connects to the work site with plastic, and seal them with a bit of quality painters tape. This will create an extra layer of protection from dust that your work crew might not feel comfortable implementing due to its intrusiveness.
2. Store Your Doors
Any installation crew worth hiring will take on the responsibility of removing your doors from the work site. However, if you have particularly valuable doors that you are worried might get scratched or damaged; you might consider removing and storing them yourself.
Simply remove the doors and store them away from the work site separated by a blanket or soft cloth between each door. This should keep them perfectly safe and free of scratches no matter what.
3. Prepare an Outdoor Cutting Area
One of the best ways to cut down on noise and the spread of dust and debris in the house is to provide an outdoor workspace for your workers, where they can do a lot of the cutting and machinery work. All you have to do is provide a covered area that is outdoors, but easily accessible to the work site. This work area should also have access to power to run the tools.
